Daniella Sussman

Director of International Communications

 

Daniella Sussman is the Director of International Communications for Global Engagement at the University of Rochester. Under the guidance of the Vice Provost for Global Engagement, she leads communication strategies and initiatives focusing on advancing the institution’s global engagement key priorities: International Partnerships and Engagement, Global Education and Mobility Pathways, International Diversity and Campus Climate, and Global Profile and Reputation. Daniella utilizes multi-channel content to support these international initiatives and programs, working closely with the university’s leadership, faculty, scholars, and overseas in-country representatives to elevate the institution’s global profile. She also monitors and summarizes international issues affecting the university and its community. As a key member of the university’s communications network, Daniella collaborates with the Office of University Marketing and Communications to ensure alignment with institutional strategies and best practices.

Previously, Daniella held several key roles at the United Nations, including Communication Advisor to the Assistant Secretary-General for the Peacebuilding Commission and Fund at the UN Secretariat, and Chief of Communications and External Relations for UNICEF across Central and South Asia, East and West Africa, Eastern Europe, and the Middle East. She recently served as Public Communications and Partnership Specialist for the UN World Data Forums in China, UAE, and South Africa, and the UN High-Level Dialogue on Energy in New York. Additionally, Daniella was a communication consultant at the Sabin Center for Climate Change Law at Columbia University. Her diverse background in international relations, development, marketing, and higher education brings a unique perspective to her work. Daniella holds an MBA from Copenhagen Business School, an M.A. in International Journalism from City, University of London, and a B.A. in Middle Eastern Studies from the University of Texas at Austin.
